sans but - without purpose

recordings made mainly in march/april during an artist residency at the centre culturel irlandais in paris. having just arrived in paris pre lockdown 1 with all my recording equipment, i was the only artist who chose to stay as the building and its grounds slowly emptied of staff and students and artists leaving me, a priest, an ex army officer, a young law student called stephen and a rotating security guard. these recordings capture some of the atmosphere of those weeks as paris went into lockdown and work their way towards a more meditative pace.

as the record took shape shape i felt it definitely needed another voice. i couldn't think of anything more perfect than the elemental powers of catherine sikora who arrived in paris just at the right time. what she brought to the record in one or two improvised takes on the tracks she features on is truly minblowing and lifts proceedings to a whole other cosmic plane.
